Foresthill Fire Protection District

Fire Chief Ian Gow's Message

The Foresthill Fire Protection District (FFPD) is managed by an elected Board of Directors. The Board hires a Fire Chief who, in turn, manages the Operations of the Fire District. For the past 18 months the FFPD has been operating under joint management with the Placer Hills Fire Protection District (PHFPD) (across the canyon in the Applegate, Meadow Vista and Weimar area). Both Fire Boards and I have been working with all other Departments and Staff in Placer County. We are attempting to seek a pathway towards better funding and potential consolidation/mergers of local county departments.

Your FFPD provides medical, fire and rescue services to the entire divide. We have two stations, one at Todd Valley and the other on Gold Street, in town. We staff both stations 24/7, 365 days per year with an Officer and a paramedic. Depending on the nature of the emergency, they will respond either an ambulance, a structure fire engine or a wildland engine. We answer approximately 800 calls for service per year, the majority being for medical services.

Your crews are highly competent and provide an excellent level of service to our rural area.

I am very proud to be the Chief of such a fire organization. The community can rest easy knowing their fire men and women are on watch.

If I can be of any service, please do not hesitate to call me at 367-2465.

Sincerely,
Ian Gow
